Most insurance plans do not consider that the greatest needs of an ALS patient are durable medical equipment and home care, although these are primary needs for sustaining life. It’s with the help of partnership organizations that Touched By ALS can help those impacted, not only sustain life but also maintain some level of independence.
The high cost of equipment and home care present a significant financial burden on our patients’ families. An ALS patient’s out-of-pocket annual costs can exceed $110,000. Our assistance in obtaining equipment and home care, can make a difference. It can allow a patient to remain at home and elevate the quality of life for the entire family.
